Dr. Robert de Souza
Executive Director
TLI – Asia Pacific

Dr Robert de Souza is the Executive Director and Chief Executive of The Logistics Institute – Asia Pacific.

TLI - Asia Pacific is a premier institute based in Singapore nurturing logistics excellence in industry, postgraduate research and education. TLI – Asia Pacific is a seven-time AFSCA (Asian Freight and Supply Chain Award) winner since 2003.

Prior to joining TLI – Asia Pacific, Dr de Souza was Executive Vice President for V3 Systems in the Asia Pacific, Corporate Senior Vice President and Global Chief Knowledge Officer at Viewlocity Inc. and Vice Chairman and CEO of SC21 Pte. Ltd.

Dr de Souza is a Professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology in USA and a Senior Fellow at the National University of Singapore. He has published extensively and is a member of the Editorial Boards of the International Journal of Computer Integrated Manufacturing and the International Journal of Logistics Research and Applications and SMBNet.

Dr de Souza is a Chartered Engineer and serves on multiple industry, government and academic committees. Amongst these are most notably: the Resource Panel for the Government Parliamentary Committee (GPC) on Transport, the Advisory Panel of The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, Singapore (CILTS), the IDA RFID Alliance (now part of the National RFID Centre), the IBM Global University Partners Leadership Advisory Board.

Dr. de Souza received his Ph.D., M.Sc. and B.Sc. Honours in the United Kingdom.
 

 
Dr. Claude Fornarino
ILOG Optimization Industry Solutions Director, EMEA and ASIA

Claude has 20 years of experience in delivering Tailored Solutions that meet exact expectations. He has a strong technical background in Software engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Optimization Technology. Over the past 15 years at ILOG, Claude has lead the biggest projects that use ILOG optimization technology.
 
Claude has been the project leader when ILOG was implementing optimization engines for SAP APO (SNP, CTM, PPDS, TPVS, DP). He then delivered over ten projects that enhance SAP with ILOG technology such as Coors load build in USA, MGI VMI in USA, Danone production planning and scheduling in Mexico, Russia, Argentina and USA. IN 2006,Claude provided Airbus with an application that schedules operations and workers on the final assembly line in both France and Germany. This application was deployed for all aircraft programs (A320, A330 A340 and A380) . The project is so successful that Airbus will deploy this application in both the new programs (A350 and A400M) and in plants where components are manufactured.
 

 
Mr. Vijay Kaul
Vice President, SC IC & Beverages, AAC, Unilever

Mr Kaul is currently the Vice President, Supply Chain, Ice Cream and Beverages for Asia, Africa, Middle East, Turkey Central and Eastern Europe at Unilever.

Mr Kaul holds an Engineering degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, India. He joined Danone (India) as a Management Trainee in 1979. He has worked across Manufacturing, Quality, 3P operations, Engineering, R&D and led International operations and ran a Profit Centre.

Since joining Unilever in January 2005, Mr Kaul has held various appointments within the organization. Started as the Vice President, Manufacturing & Technology Foods (HUL), Mr Kaul moved to become the Vice President, Supply Chain Excellence for Asia, Africa, Middle East and Turkey. The role involved Manufacturing Excellence, Quality and Safety/Health/Environment across 100+ countries in the Region. After that, he moved into his current role as Vice President Supply Chain, Ice Cream and Beverages for Asia, Africa, Middle East Turkey Central and Eastern Europe which requires him to working across and with diverse teams. He is passionate about Customer Service, both internal as well as external.

He is married with a daughter, who has also joined Unilever. He enjoys a number of sports particularly Tennis, Cricket and Golf.

 

 
Mr. Derek Maggs
Industry Principal, Transportation & Logistics,
Industries & Solutions, SAP Asia Pacific Japan (APJ)

Derek Maggs is the regional services leader and industry principal for SAP’s transportation and logistics industry segment in Asia Pacific and Japan serving as thought-leader and lead consultant with customers covering the travel, transportation, freight logistics and the supply chain industries.

Derek came to SAP with extensive knowledge as an industry veteran in the logistics industry with a career that spans both the EMEA and the APJ markets. Prior to joining SAP, in early 2010, he served as a Supply Chain consulting expert for IBM’s Global Business Services. Having spent almost 15 years in Asia, he has also served in sales and marketing roles and as an industry management consultant in the Greater China and Southeast Asia regions using his deep knowledge in shipping, freight forwarding, ports, logistics, terminals and express courier businesses.

Derek graduated from Birmingham University (UK) and currently lives in Singapore with his wife – his three grandchildren live in Scotland and England. In his spare time, he enjoys competitive contract bridge and less competitive football and keeping fit.
 

 
Mr. Stephan Muench
Head of Deutsche Post DHL In-house Consulting Asia Pacific

Stephan Muench works for DHL Inhouse Consulting since 2003, relocated to Singapore in 2006 and heads the Asia Pacific office since 2007. His diverse project experience includes strategy development, change management, organizational effectiveness and commercial projects

Prior to joining Inhouse Consulting, Stephan worked for McKinsey, PA Consulting and in banking. He was educated in Germany, the US and the Netherlands and holds a Bachelor and Master degree in Business Administration, as well as a Master degree in Industrial Psychology.
