On 18 July, The Logistics Institute – Asia Pacific at the National University of Singapore (NUS TLI-AP) and The Singapore Army deepened their partnership to enhance supply chain resilience and up-profile the Army’s logistics professionals.
The collaboration is anchored on two key thrusts: a customised Work-Study Master of Science (MSc) in Supply Chain Management and a Joint Research Programme. The work-study track provides tailored learning for Army logisticians, beginning with the Graduate Certificate in Supply Chain Analytics. This stackable credential, jointly offered by the Department of Industrial Systems Engineering and Management, the Department of Analytics and Operations, and TLI-AP, supports flexible progression towards the full NUS MSc in Supply Chain Management. In parallel, the research programme will tackle complex operational challenges to shape future-ready solutions.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed by Chairman of TLI-AP Advisory Board, NUS Senior Vice Provost (Undergraduate Education), Professor Bernard Tan, and Commander Combat Service Support Command (CSSCOM), ME8 Tan Mu Yen. The signing was witnessed by NUS Deputy President (Academic Affairs) and Provost, Professor Aaron Thean, and Chief of Army, Major General Cai Dexian.
Prof Thean emphasised that in this new era of constant volatility, it is vital for the Army, Academia, and Industry Partners to continue building this ecosystem of collaboration and co-innovation.
MG Cai added that for an increasingly platform-centric Army, logistics and supply chain resilience are critical enablers. He highlighted that this partnership equips the Army with both the skilled personnel and the intellectual capital needed to build a world-class, future-ready logistics system.
