Game Session: Command & Control (Quiz Version)

We were honoured to be invited to deliver a didactics and gameplay session for the National University of Singapore’s @Centre for Infectious Disease Emergencies – CIDER, as part of the MSc in Infectious Disease Emergencies programme, on 14 January 2026.

Starting the session, Dr Giuseppe Timperio introduced our approach to serious game development at The Logistics Institute – Asia Pacific, sharing the design philosophy and pedagogical considerations behind our work.

This was followed by Mr Zaaba bin Abdul Rahim, who presented the featured game for the session, Command & Control (Quiz Version). He walked the class through the why and how behind the game’s design and development before facilitating the gameplay.

Command & Control (Quiz Version) is a scenario-based serious game in which players assume the role of Head of Operations in a fictitious island hospital. The game unfolds over a seven-week outbreak timeline through a text-based, branching decision system, where critical choices in Procurement, Management, and Infrastructure determine the hospital’s ability to respond to and withstand the crisis.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Professor Dale Fisher for his time, valuable input, and validation of the game’s questions and answers.
