Under NUS then Provost Prof Tan Eng Chye's directive and encouragement, and with 10 years of experience running the NUS-GeorgiaTech Double Master Programme in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (DMP), the M.Sc.(SCM) programme was launched in 2011. The programme has since grown in popularity and reputation. It is an inter-faculty programme between The Logistics Institute – Asia Pacific (TLI–AP), Industrial Systems Engineering & Management (ISEM) at College of Design and Engineering and the Department of Analytics & Operations (DAO) at NUS Business School.
The M.Sc.(SCM) programme is ideal for graduates with good honours degrees in engineering, mathematics, computing or other related technical disciplines, who are keen to advance themselves in a career in the logistics and supply chain industry. The programme admits a balance mix of local and international students including both full–time and part-time students.
The M.Sc.(SCM) programme is taught by top academics from TLI–Asia Pacific, ISEM & DAO and is endorsed by Singapore’s top economic planning agency, the Economic Development Board (EDB), the Workforce Singapore (WSG) and SPRING Singapore, Singapore’s national productivity, standards and SMEs promotion agency. It is an integrated programme combining business and engineering aimed at developing graduates with a comprehensive skill set for planning, designing and operating supply chains. Special emphasis is placed on applying decision and analytical methodologies to solve real world problems and hence the compulsory industry project which will enable graduates to work effectively in the logistics and supply chain industry. This is complemented with site visits to logistics and manufacturing companies.
On completion of the programme, M.Sc.(SCM) graduates will be well equipped with knowledge of global logistics, analytics and industrial engineering to take on a challenging career in the logistics and supply chain industry.
The M.Sc.(SCM) graduation requirements include three cores and five elective courses and an industry-based project. The minimum and maximum candidature for full-time students are one year and two years, respectively. For part-time students, the minimum and maximum candidature are 2 years and 4 years respectively.
Academic Departments and Institute involved in M.Sc.(SCM) Programme
The M.Sc.(SCM) programme is an inter-disciplinary programme, jointly offered by the Department of Industrial Systems Engineering & Management (ISEM), the Department of Analytics and Operations (DAO) of NUS Business School, and The Logistics Institute - Asia Pacific (TLI-Asia Pacific).
The ISEM Department, established in 1972, has been offering M.Sc. (Industrial & Systems Engineering) since 1969 as the first MSc degree in engineering in Singapore. It has been a highly successful graduate coursework programme with high quality student intake and has produced more than 1,907 graduates to-date.
The Department of Analytics & Operations is well-known internationally as a research centre of excellence in supply chain and logistics. It has been responsible for the quantitative dimension of business school education, particularly in Analytics, Operations Research and Supply Chain Management.
The Logistics Institute - Asia Pacific is a collaboration between National University of Singapore (NUS) and Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) for research, education and industry outreach in global logistics. TLI - Asia Pacific has wide industry recognition as a leading institute in providing professional short courses in logistics. It has been awarded "Best Education Course Provider" at the Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards (AFSCA) from 2003 to 2013, "Supply Chain Education Institution of the Year" by Supply Chain Asia between 2009 to 2011 and 2014, and "Best Educational Course Provider" at the 2016 Asian Freight Logistics and Supply Chain Awards (AFLAS).

An industry-recognised tertiary qualification in logistics and supply chain management
A main objective of the M.Sc.(SCM) programme is to educate and develop mid-career professionals in Asia to be managerial specialists in logistics and supply chain management. To meet this objective, the curriculum is designed with special emphasis placed on applying business and engineering concepts to solve real world problems. Candidates are exposed to the logistics/supply chain industry through an industry-based project and supplemented by site visits to logistics and manufacturing companies in Singapore. The high quality of supply chain management education provided at NUS has been recognised by the industry - TLI-Asia Pacific has been awarded "Best Educational Course Provider" at the Asian Freight & Supply Chain Awards eleven times from 2003 to 2013, "Supply Chain Education Institution of the Year" by Supply Chain Asia four times from 2009-2011 and 2014, and "Best Educational Provider" at the 2016 Asian Freight Logistics And Supply Chain Awards (AFLAS).
